Unforgettable Souvenir from "The Land of Morning Calm"
- Business Card Holder with the Thousand-Year Smile of Korean Mona Lisa

As a registrant you will receive the complementary souvenir offered by LAWASIA2004 Local Organizing Committee. It was originated by the below Roof-End Tile with Smiling Face in Shilla dynasty (668~935).

In ancient Shilla Dynasty, there were convex (male) and concave (female) roof tiles. Convex roof-end tiles with lotus designs were made in great quantities for palace buildings and temples. Also made, though in smaller quantities, were convex roof-end tiles with human faces. Especially, the expression of the smiling face such as the above roof-end tile is remarkable and is not easily found. If you would like to see that smiling face, please visit the Gyeongu National Museum.

- Wonderful Story Behind the Smile of Korean Mona Lisa

The smile of Korean Mona Lisa was found from a roof tile of a traditional Korean house. The roof tile was originally excavated in 1940 in Gyeongju City, which was the capital of the Shilla Kingdom Dynasty, by Mr. Tanaka, a Japanese medical doctor, before World War II. He had kept this roof tile up until 1972 and after believing that it should not belong to his personal collection, he had returned it to Gyeongju National Museum Korea. Since the LAWASIA Energy Law International Conference will make a special tour to Gyeongju City, the smile of Korean Mona Lisa will be a souvenir in welcoming and bringing luck to all the participants of the LAWASIA Energy Law International Conference in the year 2004.
